“Holiday in Paradise” was the theme of the Wellington Holiday Parade on Dec. 9, 2012 along Forest Hill Blvd. in Wellington. Hosted by the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Village of Wellington, the 29th annual parade drew thousands of revelers to the boulevard between the Wellington Mall and municipal complex and community center. Floats, marching bands from most area schools and even the South Florida Fair, dance troupes, costumed characters, live music and more were featured. Wellingtonian, Olympian equestrians Margie Engle and Todd Minikus were parade’s grand marshals. After the two-hour march, the celebration continued with the official tree lighting at the Wellington Amphitheater in the Holiday Fun Park, which included family-oriented activities such as a carousel, a skating rink, train ride, bounce houses, food and exhibit booths and a live concert. Before the parade, the Holiday Mile Run/Walk was held on the parade route.
